Deliciously fluffy clouds of cinnamon sugar goodness filled with your favorite flavor of Heidi’s Jam.
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups milk heated to 100°
- 2 ¼ tsp yeast (one package)
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 4 oz butter melted and cooled
- 4 ¼ cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- Oil for fryer
- Cinnamon for tossing
- Sugar for tossing
Directions
- In a small bowl, dissolve sugar and yeast in warm milk and allow it to activate and become foamy, 10-15 min.
- Combine eggs and butter and add to milk mixture.
- In a large bowl combine the flour and salt together mixing well.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredient bowl and combine. The dough should be slightly sticky.
- Knead until smooth then place in bowl and cover with a kitchen towel.
- Allow dough to rise until doubled in size. Meanwhile, begin heating the oil in the fryer to 350° to 375°.
- Dust work area and rolling pin with flour. Push dough onto work surface and roll out to ½ inch to ¼ inch thickness evenly. If dough begins to shrink allow it to rest before continuing.
- Once rolled out, cover with a damp towel and allow dough to rest for 10 minutes before cutting to avoid snapback.
- Using a 3 ½ cookie cutter cut dough into rounds and place on a baking sheet. Cover with damp towel again
- Fry until golden brown flipping once, making sure both sides are even in color. Meanwhile, combine cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl for tossing.
- Remove doughnuts from fryer and allow to briefly drain on a paper towel lined tray.Toss doughnuts in cinnamon sugar mixture and place on cooling rack to rest.
- Use a piping bag to fill each doughnut with your choice of flavor of Heidi’s Jam.
